This thesis presents the design of a dam on the Suhorka Stream, a tributary of the Reka River, as one of the possible measures for ensuring a long-term and reliable supply of drinking water in the Coastal-Karst region. A 63 m high concrete gravity dam was proposed, with its primary purpose being to provide the required water storage capacity and ensure safe operation throughout the intended service life of the structure. The theoretical part presents the fundamental principles of gravity dam design and stability assessment. These principles formed the basis for determining the initial geometric parameters using Excel, as well as for calculating the individual loads and assessing the dam’s stability against sliding and overturning. Further analysis was performed using CADAM software, where normal, exceptional, and extreme load combinations were considered. Based on the results, the dam geometry was progressively optimized. The final suitable solution was achieved in the fourth optimization of the initial dam geometry. The final dam satisfies the required safety criteria against sliding and overturning for all considered load combinations. In addition, the dam’s stability was assessed under reduced drainage system efficiency and in the post-construction condition. Based on the analyses performed, the selected geometry was assessed as an adequate and technically feasible solution.
