The graduate thesis titled Designing a Women’s Collection Rivalry presents the development of an original fashion collection based on the exploration of textile manipulation techniques and the contemporary interpretation of historical references.
The theoretical part examines film costume design, romantic aesthetics, and the Rococo period, as well as various textile surface manipulation techniques, including gathering, shirring, smocking and tucking.
The experimental part presents the development of the collection, from the initial inspiration, reference research, and concept development to the selection of materials, colour palette, and the design and production of the silhouettes. The collection combines technical materials with elements of contemporary romanticism and Rococo aesthetics, with an emphasis on texture, volume, and the possibility of personalising individual garments.
The result is a fashion collection that, through a contemporary interpretation of historical references, explores the possibilities of textile surface design while combining contrasts between technical materials, decorative elements and romantic aesthetics.
