The diploma thesis presents the process of developing an interactive virtual
museum dedicated to iconic Japanese sports cars from the 1990s. The project
includes the creation of three-dimensional vehicle models and a museum
environment, as well as their integration into an interactive application. The
thesis describes the complete development process, from collecting reference
material and planning the modeling workflow to creating the geometry, applying materials, optimizing the models, and importing them into a game
engine. Particular attention is given to the design of the user experience,
allowing visitors to freely explore the virtual museum, examine the vehicles
from different perspectives, and access technical specifications and interesting
facts through interactive elements within the environment. One of the vehicle
models also features a modeled interior, enabling the user to view the car
from the driver’s perspective.
The thesis discusses several challenges encountered during development,
including the selection of reference blueprints, geometry optimization, preparation of models for use in the game engine, and achieving an appropriate
balance between visual quality and application performance.
The three-dimensional models were created using Blender, while the
interactive virtual museum was developed using the Unity game engine.
