Indoor air quality significantly affects human health and well-being. However, human senses cannot reliably assess all the parameters that determine it. Therefore, a measurement system for monitoring air quality in a residential environment was developed as part of this thesis. The system is based on a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W single-board computer and measures carbon dioxide concentration, temperature, relative humidity, atmospheric pressure, illuminance, PM₂.₅ and PM₁₀ concentrations. Measurements are recorded at ten-minute intervals and stored in a local SQLite database. Current values are displayed on an OLED screen, while measurement history can be reviewed through a web-based user interface.
The performance of the developed system was evaluated by comparing its readings with those obtained from commercial monitoring devices and by analysing its response to changes in indoor conditions.
