In my graduation thesis, I examine psychosocial risks among professional workers at a selected centre for social work in Slovenia. In the theoretical section, I present the definitions, types and consequences of psychosocial risks. I also focus on the psychosocial risks that I observed during my internship at the selected centre. These include job content, workload, mental health in the workplace, workplace relationships, organizational culture, and dealing with emotionally demanding cases and workplace violence.
In the empirical section, I present the research methodology. I opted for qualitative research because I wanted to gain an insight into the experiences of employees. I conducted eight interviews with individuals from various fields of work. I conducted a qualitative analysis; first I transcribed the interviews, and after coded the results. Through this research, I found that employees at this social work centre face an excessive workload, time constraints, and experience high levels of stress due to the very nature of their work. The research also showed that when coping with work-related demands, employees consider support from colleagues and supervision to play an important role.
