Numerous theorists, including Pogorelec, Toporišič, Gabrovšek, and the authors of Slovnica štirih – Bajec, Kolarič, Rupel, and Šolar, have addressed the use of conjunction da in their analyses. Although their theories are largely consistent, differences regarding the use of the conjunction da occur with various types of subordinate clauses. This raises the question of how the theory is presented in school textbooks such as Ahačič’s Slovnica na kvadrat and Žagar’s Slovenska slovnica in jezikovna vadnica. Review of the various theories reveals that da is used with personal, object, attributive, consequential, temporal, intentional, causal, conditional, and modal subordinate clauses. Based on this theory, a two-part analysis was conducted to assess the effectiveness of the established system of questionnaires; at the same time, the findings were verified using the catalysis method as applied by Breda Pogorelec in her theory.
