The purpose of the master's thesis was to review Slovenian and foreign literature systematically to provide a detailed presentation of the technique and methodology of cross-country skiing school (classic and skating techniques) and to define appropriate methodological approaches for their effective teaching. The central part of the master's thesis is represented by descriptions and illustrations of the basic elements of cross-country skiing school, as well as by the presentation of specific exercises in the methodology of teaching these elements. The thesis also included the organization of cross-country skiing teaching, where we described various teaching forms and methods necessary for high-quality cross-country skiing teaching. The history of cross-country skiing, both in the world and in Slovenia, the basics of cross-country skiing biomechanics, and the definition of domestic and foreign terminology of the elements of technique are also covered.
The thesis is designed as a descriptive monograph based on a review of domestic and foreign pro-fessional literature and practical experience.
The findings show that quality teaching of cross-country skiing requires knowledge of the basics of biomechanics as well as planning and appropriate organization of the learning process, which must be based on the implementation of various didactic methods and the appropriate choice of teaching forms, taking into account individualization and differentiation according to the devel-opmental level and ability of the students.
