The master’s thesis examines the accessibility of recreational infrastructure as a key factor influencing the frequency of its use. It analyses the accessibility of recreational infrastructure (spatial, temporal, financial, and user accessibility) in the Municipality of Kranj. Based on the identified conditions, residents’ needs, and spatial characteristics, the study proposes a framework for further spatial development of recreational infrastructure. The research combines survey data, fieldwork, and spatial analysis using geographic information systems. The results reveal differences between the urban and rural parts of the Municipality of Kranj. The city of Kranj is characterized by a higher density and diversity of infrastructure, as well as good temporal accessibility, with most residents able to reach recreational areas within ten minutes. In contrast, rural areas of the municipality are less well equipped, with more dispersed and less diverse infrastructure. Areas with lower accessibility are mainly found in rural areas, in some larger settlements, and in dispersed settlements in hilly regions. The results also show that recreational infrastructure is insufficiently adapted to vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and people with disabilities. On the other hand, financial accessibility is high, as most infrastructure is free and costs have little influence on users’ choices. A spatial development plan for recreational infrastructure is proposed, based on the principles of equality and accessibility, aiming to ensure a high-quality living environment for all residents.
