The research examines the impact of creative movement on classroom climate and students' social relationships in the 5th grade of primary school. The purpose of the study was to determine—through classroom observations, a "Classroom Environment" questionnaire for students and the teacher, sociometric testing, and interviews—whether the integration of creative movement methods into lessons in various ways (dance and movement representation, movement games, pantomime, meditation with visualization) influences the improvement of the classroom climate and social relations among students.
The theoretical part of the master's thesis includes a review of existing literature on creative movement, classroom climate, and social relationships. Special emphasis is placed on the intertwining of these components and their impact on the learning process.
The empirical part presents a study conducted in one primary school class. Before introducing creative movement as a teaching approach, the current state of the classroom climate and social relationships was researched. During a two-month period of implementing various creative movement activities, the situation was monitored; various situations and peer relationships were recorded in an observation diary, and interviews were conducted with five students and the teacher. Following the implementation of creative movement, the classroom climate and social relationships were re-evaluated to compare the results.
Based on the results, we concluded that with the implementation of creative movement, both the classroom climate and social relationships among students began to improve. Students expressed a higher degree of interpersonal cooperation, trust, and respect. They became more empathetic, tolerant, and attentive.
The research results contribute to a better understanding of the role of creative movement in the learning process and provide guidelines for the application of this teaching method.
Creative movement is not treated merely as a working method, but also as a supportive element in education that can significantly influence the classroom climate and social relations. Thus, the research opens new possibilities for integrating creative movement into the educational process.
