Soprano Ana Pusar Jerič established herself as one of the leading opera singers on both the Slovenian and international music scenes. From an early age, she revealed remarkable vocal talent. After completing her studies at the Music School and Teachers’ Training College in Celje, she continued her vocal education at the Institute for Music and Ballet Education in Ljubljana under the guidance of the renowned vocal pedagogue Jelka Stergar. She began her operatic career as a soloist with the Slovenian National Theatre Opera and Ballet Ljubljana, where over the course of seven years she performed numerous soprano roles. Among the most notable were Rosina in The Barber of Seville, Oksana in Christmas Eve, Poppea in The Coronation of Poppea, Tatyana in Eugene Onegin, and Desdemona in Otello. Following her success at international competitions and the receipt of the Prešeren Fund Award, she continued her artistic career with an engagement at the Komische Oper Berlin and guest appearances at the Dresden State Opera, where she expanded her repertoire with roles in operas of Wagner, Strauss and Mozart. Most acclaimed were her portrayals of Elsa in Lohengrin, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, Ellen Orford in Peter Grimes, the Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier, and the title role in Arabella. Later, as a freelance artist, she performed at leading opera houses throughout Europe and beyond, including Berlin, Dresden, Munich, Montreal, Zurich, Geneva, Madrid, Barcelona, Salzburg, Venice, and many other cities. She concluded the final chapter of her operatic career by returning to perform on her home stage at the SNG Opera and Ballet Ljubljana, where she performed until her retirement.
