In this research we explored how young people perceive success and career success, how important it is to them, what they are willing to do to achieve it, and what they expect from organizations to support it. Using two focus groups (n = 14, aged 21–25) and grounded theory approach to data analysis, we found that for young people success means satisfaction, self-fulfillment, good relationships, and balance between work and private life. They largely associate success with career success, which they perceive as contributing to society, an opportunity for professional development, and financial stability. Their career decisions are most influenced by their interests. To achieve success, young people are willing to invest in learning, gaining work experience, openness, and networking, but they do not want to sacrifice their moral values or private life. They expect organizations to support their health and to provide opportunities for learning and professional development. The study contributes to the understanding of young people‘s perceptions of career success and provides guidance for organizations in supporting the career success of young people.
