In my thesis, I presented the fundamental principles of chromatography with an emphasis on gas chromatography.
I described the key components of a gas chromatograph and their respective roles (carrier gas, injector, column, detector), and explained the influence of column dimensions on separation performance. I provided a detailed overview of the selection of the stationary phase, film thickness, column length and its inner diameter, as well as the type and flow rate of the carrier gas. Furthermore, I described the impact of column temperature on the development and success of the analysis.
In conclusion, I presented the main application areas of gas chromatography.
