The aim of this article is to point out the importance of awareness of the gradual nature of derivatives when building a dictionary. The article deals with this subject from the perspective of the presence/absence of the multistage derivatives in the dictionary and especially from the perspective of lexical definitions considering the motivating word, and the (in)consistency of the qualifiers and semantic notes.
