This master's thesis examines the life and work of the Chilean poet and diplomat Pablo Neruda. The biographical data from his life that influenced his work are presented in chronological order. In addition to introducing his poetry collections, this thesis provides examples of poems from within them. As politics and poetry have always been linked in Neruda's work, the master's thesis is primarily devoted to researching the poet's perspective on his own work and his conception of the poet’s role in political struggle.
