A bibliometric analysis of publications by researchers in the field of geography, published between 1993-2023, was conducted. The study included an analysis of publications, authors and citation data. Data were obtained from two databases, Web of Science and Scopus, using two different search methods. The first search included all researchers classified in the databases as affiliated with Slovenia, whose publications were related to geography. The second search included publications by researchers registered in the SICRIS system. The results showed notable differences between the analysed groups. In both databases, an increase in the number of publications was recorded over the study period, with a significant rise in publications in English. Despite the two differing definitions of researchers in the field of geography in Slovenia, there was partial overlap in authors and their publications. We observed substantial differences in citation counts across individual publications. The analysis provided at least a partial overview of the current state of research in geography in Slovenia. With a clearer and more consistent definition of Slovenian researchers, integration of data into a unified set, or the use of additional databases, the results might differ and offer a more realistic picture of publications by researchers in the field of geography.
