This thesis explores the establishment process of the Pohorje Regional Park. It presents the attitude of the local administration (i.e., municipal representatives) and the local population toward the establishment and the expected changes in the area due to the establishment and operation of the park. The attitude of the local administration towards the establishment of the new Pohorje Regional Park was examined through interviews, while the attitude of the local population was examined through a survey. The analyses identify differences between the local administration and the population and between different types of expected changes. The goal is to present the findings as guidelines for the park manager and stakeholders using SWOT analysis. The results show full support for the park on the part of the municipalities, while 86% of the local population surveyed agree with the establishment of the Pohorje Regional Park, with nature conservation being particularly important to them in connection with the park. The municipalities also value the economic opportunities offered by the establishment of the park, particularly in the field of tourism. In terms of nature conservation, both groups are primarily committed to preserving biodiversity and existing species and to protecting natural resources. They see opportunities in cooperation with the local population, education, and the development of local infrastructure, as well as in the greater recognition of Pohorje and a better quality of life due to a healthier environment.
