In my thesis, I will delve into easy-to-read text, its importance, and the people for whom it is intended. I will describe guidelines for writing and preparing easy-to-read text. Then, I'll introduce the Enostavno portal, which is part of MMC RTV Slovenia, where news is published in easier-to-understand language, and mention what content it offers and who the portal's target audience is.
In the main part of my thesis, I will analyze two easy-to-read news articles published on the Enostavno portal and compare them with the same news articles in standard language published on MMC RTV Slovenia. First, I will compare the visual appearance of the news items, then I will focus on analyzing the vocabulary used, the sentence structure, the sentence structures contained in the news items, text coherence (means of establishing it, word order, fixed phrases, and division according to topicality), and the cohesion of both news items.
At the end of the thesis, I will summarize my findings on the differences between the two types of news items.
