Within the scope of my thesis, I will examine two key themes. The first will involve analysing hip hop culture as a dance genre, while the second will explore the role of popular scientific illustrations in the context of hip hop as an educational tool. I will delve into how illustrations can contribute to the learning process of hip hop dance. My aim is to provide a comprehensive insight into this dance genre, encompassing both its design and educational aspects. The target audience of my project is teenagers. The visual language I will use will be carefully tailored to their perception and aesthetics, aiming to facilitate an effective understanding of hip hop within this age group. In my research, I aim to create illustrations that not only educate but also inspire, preserving the cultural integrity of hip hop and enabling engaging learning experiences for teenagers and newcomers to this dance genre. The practical part of my thesis will involve creating a guidebook on the basics of hip hop, serving as an interactive workbook. Designing a high-quality illustrated guide that effectively informs is not just a response to current shortcomings but also an investment in the future of the Slovenian dance scene. It will be aimed at anyone new to the world of dance and training, and will be equipped with clear, popular scientific illustrations. The goal of my project is to create a comprehensive educational resource that not only teaches the basics of hip hop but also encourages the development of dance skills and, ultimately, creativity.
