We are facing a rising number of odler people who require long-term care. With the adoption of Long-Term Care Act in 2023, entry points for long-term care at Centres for social work have gained a significant importance, providing users with crucial and necessary information regarding their rights of exercising long-term care, as well as appropriate support and guidance. It is crucial to understand what is the role of entry points, the tasks of employees, risks and opportunities of establishing entry points, necessary methods and knowledge of social workers at the entry points and accessibility of entry points. In the theoretical part, I present basic understanding of long-term care, the need for long-term care, social work and methods of social work in long-term care and entry points at Centres for social work. Research of this thesis is qualitative because I have gathered information through semi-structured interviews. I have researched the process of establishing entry points for long-term care at Centres for social work, especially their role, risks, opportunities, accessibility in community. Based on acquired knowledge I have come to a conclusion that the main role of entry points is providing users with correct information and assisting them with understanding their right to long-term care. Professionals employed at long-term entry points provide users with support, information, and advice regarding their rights, while also facing numerous challenges in their work. The entry points are accessible to the people living in the community, and the facilities are suitably adapted to the needs of the users. I suggest the establishment of entry points at each unit of the Social work centre within the region as this would enable even better local accessibility for all residents.
