The thesis focuses on risk assessment in manual load handling. The purpose of the work is to provide a comprehensive overview of existing methods and to present practical findings aimed at improving ergonomic conditions in the workplace of a sales assistant–cashier. The theoretical part outlines the employer’s responsibilities, the consequences of manual load handling, and a comparison with the previous regulation, explaining why a new regulation was required and what changes have been introduced. The empirical part concentrates on work methods, describing the risk assessment process using the Key Indicator Method, applied to the sales assistant–cashier position in a specific case study. The thesis emphasizes the identified issues and proposes potential solutions. Risk was assessed for 29 tasks, of which 8 required the implementation of measures to reduce the risk level.
