For my master's thesis I have synthesised twenty-four different selenides and selenoxides. First, I synthesised seventeen different symmetrical and unsymmetrical selenides, then I have oxidised seven selected selenides to selenoxides. In the first part I have synthesised nine different symmetrical selenides using aryl bromides and elementary selenium in a modified Grignard reaction. In the second part I have used diphenyl diselenide and various activated aromatic compounds to synthesize eight different unsymmetric selenides at room temperature. In these reactions I have used Selectfluor$^{TM}$ (F-TEDA) or PIFA ((bis(trifluoroacetoxy)iodo)benzene) as a reagent. In the last part I have oxidised seven of the selenides into selenoxides using hydrogen peroxide without the use of solvents.
