The purpose of this thesis was to explore the challenges faced by young people in the
municipality of Idrija and to examine how youth organizations respond to these needs through
their programs and services. As part of a qualitative research approach, I conducted interviews with most of the youth organizations operating in the Idrija area. These interviews provided deeper insight into the work of the organizations, their understanding of the needs of young
people, and how effectively their programs address these challenges. The findings show that
young people in Idrija primarily face issues related to housing and a lack of suitable
employment opportunities that match their education and aspirations. The results also indicate that youth organizations generally provide strong support to young people, offering
opportunities for both personal and social development. However, they are less successful in
reaching youth from vulnerable groups, who, for various reasons, often remain on the margins
of youth work. This thesis highlights the key challenges faced by young people in Idrija and
emphasizes the need for more inclusive approaches and programs that can more effectively
reach and support youth from vulnerable backgrounds.
