Nuclear power plant operation extensions are very important steps towards low-carbon energy generation in future years. The background of this procedure contains many maintenance activities and technological upgrades, which consequently contribute to reliable NPP operation.
In the scope of this thesis we analyzed high-pressure steam turbine replacement and power upgrade. We determined how steam generator tube plugging procedure affects main steam parameters at the inlet stages. By increasing the percentage of plugged U-pipes, the specific volume increases, resulting in higher steam flow velocity. Furthermore, we concluded that different flow conditions affect the expansion curve and expansion efficiency of individual stages.
