In my thesis, I looked into the urban development of Hong Kong. It is one of the most densely
populated cities, facing spatial limitations and complex geography. In my thesis, I described
the development of the city throughout history and the geographical and spatial limitations that
have crucially defined the urban development of Hong Kong. Due to the spatial limitations, I
looked into the city's strategies for further urbanization. I analyzed housing policy, transport
infrastructure, and looked at the city's current role as an important international business and
financial center. In my thesis, I also paid attention to the urban phenomenon of the Kowloon
Walled City. I used the descriptive and analytical method and relied on scientific and
professional literature, online sources, articles, official reports, maps, and visual materials. I
concluded that Hong Kong remains an important global center, but faces many challenges for
which it will have to find innovative and sustainable solutions.
