Rhamnus intermedius Steud. & Hochst. is a new representative of the Slovenian flora. It was found on a pasture in the Slovenian Kras near the village of Osp. Due to the high observed morphological variability among different shoots, we performed an analysis of morphological variability. The goals of the study were to examine the morphological variability of the species in Slovenia, determine its vulnerability and create an identification key for the species within the genus Rhamnus. We collected samples for analysis from all eleven known specimens. For comparison we analysed foliage of Rhamnus saxatilis Jacq. Using descriptive statistics and the non-parametric Mann Whitney U-test, we confirmed high variability within the species and large differences in all observed morphological parameters, apart from the length of the leaf and the location of the maximum width of the leaf.
