Packaging is everywhere in today's world and often influences our choices, even if we may not notice it. As the first contact between the customer and the product, packaging conveys key information about the content, origin and quality of the product. In a competitive market, packaging is becoming an important element that differentiates a brand's product from the competition. Today, consumers not only consider the functional attributes of products but also the values that a brand embodies, such as tradition, trust, and responsibility. Successful companies create a distinctive brand identity with packaging that not only stands out but is also environmentally friendly. Consumers increasingly value environmental responsibility, support local producers and demand sustainable production. Eco-friendly packaging is therefore becoming a key element that not only protects the product, but also expresses the company's responsibility towards the environment and the community. Emphasising sustainable packaging and transparency helps to increase consumer confidence and promotes responsible behaviour throughout the product's life cycle - from production, through packaging, to consumption.
The aim of this thesis was to explore the possibilities of transforming the current packaging of dairy products sold by the Biotechnical Center Naklo in the Trgovina pod Kozolcem into a sustainable alternative. As part of the research, we examined which materials are most suitable for packaging these products, taking into account the functional requirements and the capabilities of the Biotechnical Center. Additionally, we conducted a survey to determine which packaging features are most important to consumers and how they perceive sustainable packaging and environmental awareness. We also studied existing sustainable packaging solutions for dairy products on the Slovenian market and explored which solutions could be incorporated into the Biotechnical Centre's production process.
The goal of the thesis is to design more environmentally friendly packaging that aligns with the sustainability orientation of the Biotechnical Center and contributes to reducing the amount of waste generated in the dairy workshop during the production of dairy products. By introducing sustainable packaging, we aim to contribute to environmental responsibility and raise consumer awareness about the importance of sustainable choices.
