In my thesis, I will present different ways of heating sanitary water, their advantages, disadvantages, and characteristics. I will describe the process of how, with some knowledge and experience, one can build a heat pump for heating sanitary water. The first part describes the operation of heating systems, their key elements and processes. Afterwards, the components of a heat pump, the manufacture of components, and their installation are presented and supplemented with photographs. The main part comprises of a comparison of the methods and costs of heating sanitary water with a compact heat pump, a heat pump with a water connection, a heating oil boiler, a wood pellet boiler, and, of course, the most common method of heating sanitary water so far, an electric heater. The concluding part of the thesis discusses options and advice on how to reduce the energy consumption for heating sanitary water.
