In modern times, promoting inclusion, equity, and reducing discrimination is becoming a significant factor in achieving success and sustainable development for organizations. Despite numerous efforts, workplace discrimination remains a major issue. The negative consequences of unequal treatment based on personal circumstances can be felt at the individual and organizational levels. Individuals who are victims of discrimination may face various mental health challenges. The negative impact of discrimination in organizations may be experienced through increased absenteeism, turnover, decreased productivity and success. In my master's thesis, I aim to present the current state of perceived organizational climate and discrimination among employees in Slovenia and describe the relationship between them. I was also interested in identifying which personal circumstances Slovenian employees most frequently cite as the key factors in perceived discrimination and how these, along with the climate for inclusion, play a role in explaining discrimination. Adult participants who are regularly employed completed items from the inclusion climate scale, an adapted scale for measuring everyday discrimination in the work environment, and a demographic questionnaire. The results showed that the perception of a more inclusive work environment is negatively associated with the experience of discrimination. Women, older individuals, less educated employees, those working in the private sector, and those in lower hierarchical positions reported more frequent perceptions of discrimination. In explaining everyday workplace discrimination, certain demographic and work-related variables (gender, age, education, employment sector) proved to be significant, as did the climate for inclusion, which had the highest predictive power. Understanding the relationship between inclusion and discrimination is therefore crucial for organizations to create a work environment where employees feel valued, respected, and welcomed. The master's thesis could serve as a foundation for educational purposes and developing recommendations to help organizational leaders to strive for a more supportive and inclusive work environment.
