Assessment of selected Isonzo Front structures based on visual interpretation of remotely sensed data and its derivatives
The Isonzo front, one of the largest conflicts on Slovenian territory, left many visible traces. Durable structures, built during the
WWI, were preserved in many cases, their inquiry was eased by our findings in scientific literature, while different tools used
with remotely sensed data gave us accurate locations of remains. Besides writings in different sources, diverse historical maps,
sketches, and military aerial photographs also came in useful. Analysis of separate cases were made based on orthophoto and an
accurate digital elevation model, which was acquired through Lidar scanned data. The results of visual interpretation were also
tested with field work; the structures were measured and additionally assessed according to their size and purpose
