In my thesis, I explore house and field names in the village of Plužnje, whose inhabitants speak the Cerkno dialect, a part of the Rovte dialect group. In the field, I collected approximately 75 names, transcribed them, standardized their phonetics, and analyzed their origins. The names are presented in the form of dictionary entries and tables. I found that house names are most often derived from a personal name, nickname, surname, or the occupation of the head of the household, and quite often also from the mistress of the house. Field names mostly relate to natural features, location, or land use.
