The work is based on one of the key dimensions of the social exclusion of the elderly, namely exclusion from the labor market. Employment is one of the important areas of exclusion of old people from the labor market. I focus on the population of older people who are looking for employment, and how they are affected by the fact that they are disadvantaged in accessing employment compared to other social groups. Unemployment has a negative impact on the material situation of the elderly, as a result of which this is also reflected in other spheres, such as housing deprivation, poor health and poor development of social networks compared to the rest of the population. In my thesis, I first focus on the problem of population aging. Furthermore, I connect this with the problem of social exclusion of older people and how this affects the inclusion of older people in the field of employment. In the empirical part, I first investigated what measures the Republic of Slovenia is implementing in the field of exclusion of the elderly in the field of employment and what the future plans are. I also presented what measures and policies are implemented at the level of the European Union. I found that compared to EU countries, Slovenia ranks among the countries with the lowest level of participation of the elderly in the labor market and that, in addition to the existing policies, it will be necessary to develop additional measures that will mitigate the exclusion of the elderly in the field of employment.
