Introduction: Sleep plays an important role during human development and growth. The baby's sleep develops markedly in the first year of life. It is a complex phenomenon, as it can be influenced by several interrelated factors. Parents, in particular, play an important role in establishing the baby's sleep. For some, such sleep does not cause any problems, but many of them, especially in the first years, face problems and challenges. Purpose: The aim of this study is to identify and present the main factors in the field of sleep. We will focus primarily on those that parents consider to be the most frequent reasons for positive or negative experiences. Methods: A descriptive method of empirical research with analysis of secondary sources was used. With the help of this method, a theoretical part was presented, which was later researched with the help of a non-causal, non-experimental research method and an online survey. Results: Most mothers are generally satisfied with their babies' sleep. They exclusively breastfed (or are still breastfeeding) their babies until the age of 6 months. Mothers have different experiences with night-time sleeping, some practice sleeping in the same room and bed-sharing, others do not. According to mothers, there are many factors that have a positive or negative impact on their babies' sleep, but the vast majority of mothers feel that babies' sleep should be treated individually and according to how they feel. More than half of mothers think they would need more information about their baby's sleep. They sought more information from different people. Discussion and conclusion: We found that the results of the research are similar and comparable to the results of foreign research. Similarly, as we found in the research, foreign authors also note that the area of baby's sleep is an area that is influenced by many different factors. The authors of foreign research note that mothers are satisfied with their babies' sleep. Many authors advise parents not to stress about the baby's sleep and at the same time highlight the fact that some things in the field of baby's sleep are completely normal. Healthcare professionals also play an important role in promoting the importance of baby sleep. Above all, it should be remembered that parents certainly know their babies and their needs best.
