Smartwatches allow the user to quickly and efficiently view and manage many of the functionalities of a smartphone. This method of interaction is suitable for applications with a simple user interface, a smaller and limited set of functions, and a short usage time aimed at completing a specific task.
As part of this thesis, an iOS and watchOS application for public transportation was developed. The iOS application allows storing favorite passenger lines, purchasing tickets, searching for timetables, and receiving alerts in case of extraordinary circumstances. Selected data is forwarded to the watchOS application, where it's possible to view stored lines and display purchased tickets. Key data can be displayed in the form of complications on any chosen watchOS face.
