The master thesis deals with the topic of quality of life in public interiors, based on the sensory experience of space and perceived well-being. The choice of the theme was prompted by the coronavirus epidemic, which triggered radical changes, one of the most critical of which was the restriction of use of public spaces (especially interior); this meant that we spent most of our time at home. Restricted movement has prompted reflection and research on how we live indoors, especially as our needs and habits change.
The theoretical part explains how interiors form, how they are experienced and how they need to be adapted to new needs. A key area of research is the creation of atmospheres for well-being in public interiors as key spaces for socialisation. The analytical part presents an analysis of selected public interiors in Slovenia. The analysis evaluates the spaces in terms of the elements that make up their atmosphere, and from this, guidelines are derived for the systematic analysis of public interiors. In the practical part, the guidelines are presented in the form of a book about the atmosphere of public interiors, intended (mainly) for investors in the construction or renovation of these spaces.
