The aim of this thesis was to develop a smart base for gas cylinders that allows monitoring of gas level and detecting potential gas leaks. When the gas level in the cylinder falls below a certain threshold, the device sends a warning to a mobile application. In case of a detected gas leak, the device alerts with a beep sound and a warning through the mobile application. The main advantage of the device is enabling remote monitoring via a mobile application, which increases the user’s safety and convenience. The thesis presents the main components of the device, including the WeMos D1 mini microcontroller, the HX711 module, load cells, and the MQ2 sensor. The creation process of the device is also detailed, encompassing 3D modeling of the housing, integration of electronic components, and programming of both the microcontroller and the mobile application. Measurements have shown that the device accurately detects the gas level in the cylinder, suitable for the average user, and reliably detects gas leaks using the MQ2 sensor. The device is suitable for use in households, where it provides greater control over gas consumption and increases safety. The average cost of making the device is approximately 50 EUR, making it both affordable and functionally competitive in the current market.
