In the master's thesis, we discussed the views of art teachers at the subject level of elementary school regarding the advantages and disadvantages of using Minecraft, a construction survival video game by the Swedish programmer Markus Persson from 2009, as a teaching aid in art lessons in nine-year elementary school.
In the theoretical part, we focused on the usefulness of computer games in lessons at the level of elementary school subject lessons, or we presented the fundamental research findings regarding the use of video games as teaching aids. The empirical part presents an analysis of an interview of two art educators, in which we mainly focused on the experiences of both teachers in the use of popular media and especially video games, both as an aid in motivation and art technique in solving art tasks in the field of sculpture and architecture, and their attitudes towards the use of the mentioned media in art lessons at the elementary school level.
Despite the concerns, video games can be very useful didactic tools for learning art concepts, as they can attract students' attention as a motivational tool. Video games are also useful as an art technique in depicting the peculiarities of three-dimensional creations.
