Formaldehyde emission in wood based composites is changing with time. In our research we examined the change in formaldehyde emission related to the time of storage. We used different wood based composites such as OSB, fiberboard (MDF), particleboard and plywoods. All samples were exposed to normal room conditions. Emission was determined by gas method, according to SIST EN 717-2. We performed 6 measurements at intervals of 14 days. Total time of storage and monitoring was 84 days. Beside determination of emission we were determining equilibrium moisture content and the surface under spectrum arround 412 nm. From the size of spectrum we calculated the surface and compared it with the nominal value of emission. We have found that surface of spectrum increases with higher emission of free formaldehyde. We have also determined the correlation between surface and formaldehyde emission. With increasing moisture the emission of free formaldehyde was increasing
