In this graduation thesis we made an estimation of woody biomass in non-forestland use classes in Republic of Slovenia. Woody biomass stocking appears not only in forests but also on non-forest areas. The aim of this research was to estimate the amount of area actually covered by woody biomass and to assess the spatial distribution in which it is arranged. We also estimated the density of woody biomass in each of targeted non-forest land useclasses. Computer software MapInfo Professional ver. 8 in relation with orthophotos allows an easy and relatively inexpensive possibility of creating a woody biomass database for the whole country on which we estimated the amount of woody biomass in non-forest land use classes. With the research, which we have conducted in this thesis we came to the conclusion, that woody biomass on intensive meadows covers in average 5,3 % of the area and that on fields and gardens woody biomass in average covers 1,5% of the area.
