Motor development is crucial in early childhood, which requires parents, educators, and sports pedagogues to implement quality motor activities for optimal encouragement of motor abilities and skills in preschool children. Kindergartens collaborate with parents in the upbringing and care of children and play a key role in supporting parents for comprehensive childcare and in improving the quality of life. Since most children spend a significant part of their day in kindergarten, it has the potential to be crucial in providing daily quality and quantitatively adequate motor activities, especially when parents are unable to provide this themselves.
In the theoretical part of the master's thesis, we focused on the general definition of preschool education in Slovenia and then we examined the basic regulations for the establishment and operation of a private kindergarten. Subsequently, we presented the motor development of children in the preschool period, the movement of children in kindergarten, and the motor/sports program "Little sun."
In the final part, we prepared a conceptual programme for a private kindergarten with an extended physical activity, which is based on the "Little sun" motor/sports programme and could serve as a foundation for the actual establishment of such a private kindergarten.
