Usually, it is impossible to implement a comprehensive productisation of the conceptual solution of a complex product in the time available with the available resources. The search for a link between conceptual solution and product development identified the need to analyse critical functionalities for developing a valuable product. The dissertation defines the model MOQE and functionality analysis for the optimisation design based on functionality analysis. The MOQE's functionality analysis is inserted between the business part with the requirements presented in the conceptual solution and the planned product development in the productisation process.
The core of the presented model is the product graph, as the graph theory enables the presentation and implementation of computational operations. According to the proposed conceptual solution, the expected values and the importance of the individual functionalities of the product are estimated. The product value algorithm along the requirements-to-value path calculates the value at each partition and the product value at the last partition. The second algorithm determines functionality's impact and follows a path from value to requirements. Thus, it determines the impact of individual requirements on the final value. It enables the assessment of the impact of the omission of individual functionalities. The second algorithm also determines the importance of functionality and the impact of omitting individual functionality, allowing the allocation and reallocation of resources on the project. Based on checks on two EU projects, a general MOQE model was created, which can be implemented to develop any product, software or hardware.
A significant contribution to science is introducing a new optimisation method using graph theory to quantify the proposed solution. An important contribution is the change of the entire product development process, which places functionality analysis between the business part and product development as an equal part of the whole process. The MOQE model is presented to the international professional public in the IEEE Access magazine as the article Model for Quantitative Estimation of Functionality Influence on the Final Value of a Software Product.
