Nikodemus Frischlin was an important humanist with outstanding skills in Latin. Born in Balingen, near Tuebingen, Germany, he wrote drama and poetry in Latin and German. In 1582 he was given the post of the leader of the Protestant schools in Ljubljana, succeeding Adam Bohorič. The
article deals with Frischlin’s scholarly and poetic works of these years, which he later remembered as very fruitful and full of worthwhile contact with people.
