In the first part of the master's thesis, I briefly introduce the subject and aim of the research. Then, in the preface, including the chapter on philosophical thoughts, I point out the complexity of the hope construct, which I examine in more detail below. This is followed by a larger chapter on hope in the field of support and help, in which I address several concepts, theories and approaches to support and help related to hope, and some of the selected aspects and factors of hope such as social support (interpersonal relationships), positive expectations (placebo) and negative expectations (nocebo). In the final part of the master's thesis, I explore the embeddedness of hope in social work concepts, basic theories, and practice; the usefulness of knowledge about hope for helping professions; positive aspects and dilemmas related to exploration; the creation of hope in the process of support and help and the meaning of hope for the helper. Finally, I conclude with suggestions for the social work profession and other professions in the field of support and help.
