The focus of the master's thesis is on the starter fork, which ensures contact between the rotating lever and the engine's flywheel during engine startup. Due to considerable loads, the part was prone to break, which was resolved by replacing the material. The main emphasis of the master's thesis is on a numerical simulation of the manufacturing process of the lever, as the surface of the it appears slightly cracked even before practical operation. Determining the material properties of both types of steel is necessary for the simulation, which is achieved through uniaxial tensile testing. Based on the results of the numerical simulation, a geometric adaptation of the fork manufacturing tooling is provided.
