In the thesis, we have developed a new non-contact measurement method for wave propagation in a laboratoty flume. In the theoretical part, we have described the behavior of waves in different depth ranges, and in the practical part, we have developed a new non-contact measurement method. We have determined the suitable background for recording the waves, the positioning of headlights, plexiglass, and the camera. We conducted six experiments at three different water levels and two different intensity levels of the wave generator. These recordings were processed using a newly developed program called "Ljubljanski valček", which calculated the period and characteristic wave heights from the input recordings. The program is also capable of plotting the spatial and temporal wave profiles at a fixed location. From the graphs of the temporal profiles, we can confirm that both the period and wave heights are calculated correctly. The "Ljubljanski valček" program is the main achievement of this thesis.
