EU member countries are facing extremely challenging issues in the labour market as
demographic trends in most of these countries have been negative for several years,
including Slovenia. The situation varies widely among european countries, with better
conditions in more developed countries with stable economies (northern and western
European countries), while poorer conditions are found in eastern and southern
European countries with less stable economies. The causes of youth uneployment are
diverse, often stemming from country's economy and demographic trends, further
exacerbated by the outbreak of the covida-19 pandemic in recent years.
We discovered that there is a growing mismatch between the high demand for labour
and supply of it in the labour market. We' ve also discovered that young people face
numerous challenges in their job search and that the scholarships and internships are
very helpful fort his age group. We have to mention that Slovenia was (alongside
Slovakia, Poland, Estonia and the Czech Republic) one of the countries that didn't
provide support for practical training and internships during the covida-19 pandemic.
Additionally, the considerable impact of the covida-19 pandemic on young individuals
has been acknowledged.
