This diploma thesis deals with the life and functioning of women during the Second World War in Kobarid region. The first part describes the roles of genders in war time, and the second part is about the course of events during the Second World War. The latter is divided into three parts: the period under Italian occupation, the time of the Kobarid Republic and the German occupation. The core of the work focuses on the lives and actions of women during the war, especially their role in the national liberation fight.
Through semi-structured interviews, we learn that, among other things, females were couriers, informants, secretaries, health and kitchen workers, as well as housewives who were forced to solely take care of their home and family after their husbands were mobilized. They trembled for the lives of their husbands and sons, while also helping the partisans, thus endangering their own lives. The work focuses on the stories of individuals, their actions and experiences of certain events, such as occupation and bombing.
