Monolingual dictionaries are one of the fundamental aids for text production, so in the description of individual lexical items they need to offer users information concerning function and usage in different contexts. What is no doubt most difficult in this regard is to describe semantically sensitive categories such as connectors, as their meaning depends on the context itself.The article compares dictionary descriptions of connectors in the Dictionary of the Standard Slovene Language (SSKJ), with the results obtained through corpus analysis.
