The Master‘s thesis deals with the existing shelters in BS 7 Ljubljana, which are not properly maintained and therefore cannot serve their main purpose - the protection of residents in emergency situations. In quiet time, however
they have no function. The content of the master‘s thesis is divided into
theoretical and project part. The theoretical part explains the architecture and function of shelters. Based on the analysis of the condition of the
existing shelters, some options for renovation and new use of the existing premises were selected.
The emphasis is on the new usefulness of the shelters in peacetime and
related program changes. The new programs are aimed at different people
to the age groups of the neighborhood population and other users,
they include a multi-purpose space with a cafe, an exhibition space, an
amphitheater and other creative functions that do not require natural light.
»Shelter as the aspirin of the neighborhood« is not a classic architectural renovation, the goal is to offer the possibility of a better quality of life in the BS7 neighborhood in Ljubljana.
