BA thesis deals with the preparation and use of remoistenable tissues in the conservation-restoration treatment of tears and losses in Melita Vovk's drawing on paper. The theoretical part presents Melita Vovk's legacy at the National and University Library of Slovenia, her portrait study of Fran Albreht, and what remoistenable tissues are, why they are used, how they can be prepared and activated. The practical part presents the preparation of remoistenable tissues with three different adhesives, on two different supports, with two different weights of Japanese paper. Their activation is demonstrated in two different ways (with Preservation Pencil and sponge-blotter system) and their application on test paper. In the conservation-restoration treatment of Fran Albreht’s study we used remoistenable tissues, which proved to be the most suitable for use on the original during the research. Firstly, we cleaned the surface of the drawing, then we used remoistenable tissues to attach toned paper inserts and to repair tears.
