The primary purpose of this thesis is to present the Hussites and their political activities. The Hussites began as a religious and political community in Bohemia in the 15th century. The aim of the thesis is to present their political activity in the period after the death of Jan Hus and during the Hussite wars. This is presented by describing various assemblies, councils and synods at which the Hussites and their opponents were present and by describing other Hussite political actions that took place during the Hussite Wars. Hussite political aims were mainly based on their religious views. The description of political actions covers the Hussites' actions against royal authority, in this case against King Vaclav IV. and later Emperor Sigismund and it presents some of the internal conflicts between the various groups inside the movement. These internal conflicts were mostly rooted in differences in the religious beliefs of individual groups. The last described political act of the Hussites in this thesis is the adoption of the Basel Compact.
